Go For Baroque

One trend I’m absolutely loving for fall is baroque.  The rich, luxurious glamour that comes with wearing a baroque piece is incomparable and it’s such a regal touch it adds to any look is fabulous.  Whether you go all out or add just a hint of baroque, you’ll still experience and exude everything that comes with the trend.  So find some inspiration and my must haves below:

Must Haves:

Baroque and Floral Print Top, Warehouse.andotherbrands.com, $53

A baroque top is a great way to add some of the trend to your wardrobe and it’s easy to style because it’s like working with any graphic tee.  This more casual, yet equally baroque-y top, can be worked into just about any look.  Whether you tuck it or leave it untucked, you can rock this shirt with any of your bottoms.  And, layer under fur (faux or real) vests, leather jackets, blazers, denim jackets – see, you can pair it with anything!

Prada ‘Baroque’ Round Sunglasses, Nordstorm.com, $290

I’m have a little bit of an obsession with sunglasses and I would say that these top the list for me right now.  The round, oversized shade, the glamorous baroque scroll detail – what’s not to love?  These are perfect for days when you’re feeling extra diva-ish or just looking for a fashionable way to hide your next morning hangover.  You can pair these with everything, but I personally love the contrast of pairing these with some torn, slouchy jeans, your favorite broken in long-sleeve tee, and a great pair of flats.

ASOS Premium Baroque Pants, ASOS.com, $58.93 (on sale)

A less bold statement, but baroque nonetheless, these pants still give you richness without being in your face.  Definitely work appropriate and a great way to go from the office to happy hour.  Try pairing with a cream tee and navy blazer or with a pretty feminine blouse or sweater.  For something more edgy, try pairing with a graphic tee or sweater and some serious statement jewelry.

Navy Baroque Shift Dress, DorthyPerkins.com, $49 (on sale)

Shift dresses are great because they’re incredibly comfortable and easy to wear.  What’s great about this particular dress, besides the print, is that it’s tailored so it hugs the body more making for a sleeker look.  Try layering under an oversized/boyfriend fit cardigan, you could throw a sweater over to create a top/skirt look, or try layering over a sheer or textured top to create a contrast sleeve.

Ecote Iridescent Clutch – Black – One Size, UrbanOutfitters.com, $49

A simple way to add baroque to any look is with accessories.  This ornate bag is great for the holidays and for any of your nights on the town or formal events.  Works just as well with your casual wear as it does with your favorite evening look.  Try letting this beauty stand out on it’s own or go all out and mix it with some more baroque or printed looks.

Baroque Smoking Loafers, Anthropologie.com, $298

Yes, baroque is even perfect for your feet!  Shoe your soles some glamorous love in these amazing flats.  There’s nothing you can’t wear theses with, and I’m pretty sure there’s nothing you won’t want to wear these with.  So my styling tip here: wear with everything!

Baroque is a great way to add some bling and richness to your wardrobe, and it’s especially great for the upcoming holiday season.  To achieve the look try to stick to scrolls, swirls, rich patterns and colors, jacquard fabrics, metallics and golds, damask prints will work – basically, if it’s over the top it’s most likely baroque.  If you’re still not sold, head to style.com to check out looks from Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, and Marchesa for some of the best looks of the season.  Will you go for baroque?

xoxo,

Emiko
